Northern Lights Quest: Aurora

Early morning arrival in Iceland, your vehicle and guide will be waiting upon arrival to start your adventure. Head through the lava fields of the Reykjanes peninsula towards Reykjavik, then swiftly out of town for the splendor of the Golden Circle. Enjoy a stop at Thingvellir National Park, and walk through the North Atlantic Continental Rift between America and Europe. Travel through the active geothermal areas of the southwest and enjoy the spectacular golden waterfall Gullfoss before arrival at spouting Geysir area. We recommend walking around the area, enjoying the big sky views and hopefully catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Travel through the lush farmlands of South Iceland. Approach the mountainous highland ridge before a stop at Sk√≥garfoss waterfall. Experience the Game of Thrones like transformation from lush fields to black sands, vast lava fields, Fjadrargljufur volcanoes and deserts carved out by glacial rivers. 

Overnight at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon or similar.

Explore the amazing Vatnajokull Glacier and Ice Cave. This ice cave formed during the melt of the glacier in the summer-time. Explore the Glacier Lagoon and the black sands and icebergs at Diamond Beach. 

Overnight - Hotel Vik or similar.

See the amazing rock formations and basalt columns of Reynisfjara and take in the breathtaking views of Dyrholaey. Stop at Gljufrarbui and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls before crossing over the geothermal mountain range of Hengill. Arrive in Reykjavik in the late afternoon where everything is in full swing. Enjoy the restaurants, bars, clubs and entertainment. 

Overnight - FossHotel Reykjavik Saga or similar.

Enjoy a day on your own in Reykjavik. Use it for some shopping and exploration of the city. Explore museums, churches, enjoy some of the great pastries and coffee houses, feed the ducks at Reykjavik centrum Lake Tj√∂rnin. Take a Northern Lights Boat Ride this evening from the Reykjavik pier. Head out in the vast ocean for optimum Northern Lights viewing chances.

This last day your last morning in Reykjavik. A good time to some last minute shopping. Meet your private driver for your transfer back to the airport for your return home this afternoon.
